Jio My Community
30 January 2026
A tool to empower Grassroots Leaders to engage communities strategically, effectively, and sustainably.
Why This Matters
Community engagement is critical in building a well-supported and resilient nation, and even more so for the youths of Singapore, where they juggle increasingly complex social and economic challenges, amidst caregiver responsibilities in Singapore’s ageing population.
Based on Wah!’s (HFPG’25) research last year, many residents, especially youths, express a strong desire to participate more actively in community activities. There is also significant on-the-ground effort from People’s Association (PA) and Grassroots Organisations to host such events and bring people together, but community engagement remains uneven.
Through extensive conversations and user research with PA officers and Grassroots Leaders (GRLs), the Jio team identified a key gap that limits the reach and effectiveness of these initiatives:
Grassroots Leaders lack modern tools and data-driven insights to help scale their community engagement efforts effectively and reach the right audiences.
Our Solution

Dashboard for Admins
One-stop Dashboard for Admins (e.g. GRLs)
Consolidated Events Platform
Grassroots leaders can plan, launch and track event outcomes via this platform. This reduces operational overheads and ensures that important community information are well documented for continuity across various stakeholders.
Data Analytics
With the consolidated platform, GRLs can determine the current baseline engagement metrics which are currently lacking. Events data will also be collected and stored (e.g. registration vs turnout rate), to derive data-driven insights on event success.
Additionally, admins will also have access to their community demographics and interests, where they can better anticipate events that may resonate with their community.
Customised Event Reminders
For each event, GRLs can send customised messages to various groups of people to maximise outreach and turnout, e.g. reaching out to those who have indicated interest but not signed up yet.
Integration to Existing Workflow
To reduce friction in onboarding our new users, our team has intentionally created a system that allows for GRLs to still maintain the critical parts of their workflow:
Automated Event Creation
Most of the events are currently still being launched on various websites such as onePA. Instead of requiring GRLs to do more administrative work and uploading event details from scratch, they can upload digital assets (posters / brochures), and our platform will extract the relevant details.
Integration to Telegram/WhatsApp
Currently, GRLs reach out to their communities via platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp, which we have allowed for integrations with.
Specifically, all events on Jio My Community are listed on a Telegram channel, where most youths are active on, for greater outreach. Marketing efforts can also be targeted towards the Telegram channel instead of being scattered across multiple events.
For customised event reminders, GRLs can do it via WhatsApp, where most of the communications reside.

Upcoming Developments
In the subsequent product development roadmap, we intend to consolidate events planning, budgeting and approval flows on Jio My Community as well. These pre-events operational work take up a significant portion of GRLs' and other stakeholders' time, and we aim to reduce the overhead through a streamlined process.
Our Impact
Through in-depth interviews with 10 people in our target audience, and 2 Grassroots Leaders (GRLs) who manage neighbourhood communities, we identified that event coordination currently takes 1-3 days after concept development. Our platform aims to reduce this to half a day, with event publishing and community outreach taking just minutes instead of hours or days.
One GRL we spoke with was managing community engagement through Telegram and WhatsApp groups but noted the significant manual effort required. As they explained it: after they have a poster for the event, they do a write up while making sure all the key event details are captured. Then they share it on their community’s telegram / whatsapp channel, following which their community members sign up on a different registration system (Eventbrite, onePA, Luma). Then the they coordinate with their community volunteers to track signups and prepare logistics for the event. With our platform, we intend to cut down all the manual effort that lies after the creation of a poster up until the offline event that happens.
In addition to helping facilitate the event marketing and signup process, our platform is intended to uncover key metrics that community builders can track to gauge the success of their efforts. Grassroots Leaders we talked to, typically manage 5-10 neighbourhood events per month, yet they don’t have a way of tracking reachout→registration→turnout rates. Our platform will provide this observability, enabling community managers to measure event effectiveness.
We're piloting with Yuhua CC at the moment to validate these projected time savings and measure user satisfaction with the new data-driven approach.
